Essential “Tools” to Manage Cold & Flu Symptoms
Cold and flu season can leave you and your family feeling miserable. To lessen the discomfort, use the following “tools” to help manage your symptoms.
- A working thermometer – Knowing if you have a fever is important, particularly because the presence of fever may help a doctor determine which of these illnesses you are suffering from.
- Fever reducing medication – Acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Motrin) won’t treat the root cause of your fever, but they can provide quick relief. Tip: Do not give aspirin to children under the age of 18; it can have dangerous side effects in children.
- Saline spray – Saline can help loosen thick mucus, allowing your body to expel it easier. Tip: Breathing in the steam from a hot bath or shower can also help to loosen thick mucus.
- Sore throat remedies – Some of the best sore throat remedies come straight from your kitchen:
- warm liquids, such as hot water with lemon, broth, and tea can help reduce soreness and loosen mucus
- honey can also clam a sore throat and reduce coughing
- icy treats like popsicles may also relieve a sore throat
- Hand soap and cleaning products – Frequent hand hygiene is one of the best ways to prevent illness in the first place. Washing your hands and disinfecting your home can really help reduce the chances of spreading illnesses from one family member to the next.
- Adequate rest and good nutrition – Getting enough sleep and eating a healthy diet can also help prevent you from getting sick.
- Annual flu vaccine – Make sure every member of your family over 6 months of age gets their annual flu shot.

STUDENT CHECK-OUT PROCEDURE
Parents did you know that you can save time and stay in your car when you follow our "SPEEDY STUDENT CHECK-OUT PROCEDURE" in advanced?
Whenever you know your student has to leave school early for an appointment, please write a note with your student’s name, and the time they will need to leave that day.
- The student will bring the note to the Student Services Office (in the cafeteria) first thing in the morning.
- The student will complete the sign-out procedure, and they will receive a "Permit to Leave" with the time they need to leave.
- Your child will show the pass to the teacher at that time, and he/she will be allowed to leave and meet you outside of the school.
- Student Services always need parental permission for a student to leave school unless it is the student's lunch hour.
- Please remind your student to always sign out and sign in at our Student Services office
Student Identification Badges

Students may be excused from wearing ID cards during classes where doing so presents a hazard to student safety. While on school grounds, at other District facilities, or at school-sponsored or school-related events, students shall provide access to their ID card to any staff member when requested.”
“Student ID cards shall be worn on a neck lanyard so that the front of the card (photo side) is visible over the outermost layer of clothing.
